Why do bad things happen to good people?

If God is good, and if I try my best to be good, why do bad things keep happening to me?

That's the question a lot of people have asked themselves as they ponder the ups and downs of life. In their minds, doing good should be some kind of a guarantee that good things will happen to them in return. When it doesn't, it creates inner confusion. What is the answer?

To begin with, I don't believe anyone has the answer as to why anything happens in life. If we had the answer, we might be able to prevent many things from happening. My suggestion is that you put your trust in Almighty God. He never promises that bad things may not come our way. Trouble comes to everyone regardless of race, religion, gender or social status. A famous line from the book of Job says, "Man is born for a few day and full of trouble." (Job 14:1)

While God does not promise a life exempt from trouble, He did promise that He is His infinite wisdom will make all things work together for our good. Like a skilled baker, he will mix all of our life's experiences, bake it in life's fiery furnace, and produce a produce that is beautiful to Him.

Why not put your trust completely in His goodness and His integrity?
